The Timken Company has expanded its manufacturing capability with the opening of a new gear drive production facility in Houston, Texas. The new facility is designed to support the production of high-speed gear drives for industrial applications, especially in the energy sector.
As demand increases for more reliable and efficient power transmission solutions, manufacturers are investing in advanced production technologies to improve machining accuracy, shorten production cycles and enhance product performance.
The new facility, part of Timken Power Systems, focuses on manufacturing high-speed gear drives for applications including power generation, oil and gas, refining and industrial pumping equipment.
One of the key technologies introduced at the facility is advanced multi-axis machining. Compared with traditional gear manufacturing processes, modern machining solutions allow multiple operations to be completed in fewer setups, helping improve production efficiency and manufacturing flexibility.
The facility also applies precision finishing and inspection processes to ensure gear quality and reliability. Advanced testing methods, including vibration and performance testing, help verify gearbox operation before delivery to customers.
